Fashion Designer

How did you get into fashion design?

I taught myself how to sew and design in high school.  My school dropped the home ec program but still had some sewing machines left, so they let me spend an hour a day in an "individual sewing" class where I practiced sewing by myself.  I always hated the clothes at the local mall in in Iowa, where I grew up, so I learned how to make my own.  My Senior Prom dress was my first real accomplishment as a budding fashion designer in Iowa.

As a designer, what are your major influences?

My designs are influenced by rock 'n roll, glam rock, art, retro fashion, and NYC.  They are feminine with an edge.

What is your design philosophy?

My design and life philosophy is "Don't be boring.  Be Rebellious!"

What can we expect from Kahri in the next few years?
