London Graduate Fashion Week- the face-off of the world's top fashion graduates
London Graduate Fashion Week (LGFW) is the largest graduate fashion week in the world. With over 1500 graduate collections being showcased from over 68 countries all over the world, it truly is one of fashion's most prominent events. Liftetime patrons of the event include Christopher Bailey, Vivienne Westwood and Victoria Beckham.
LGFW is of course an extremely important moment in the life of a graduate designer. Having your work being showcased at this global event not only means that you have been selected as one of the top designers to represent your school, but that your work will now be seen by some of the top fashion employers in the world including names like Asos and Debenhams. Previous winners of the LGFW awards have included Matthew Williamson (CEO of Burberry), Christopher Bailey and Stella McCartney. Needless to say, those 3 minutes a designer has to own that catwalk, can change their professional career forever (no pressure!).
And this year, the Ocotur team was lucky enough to be part of this exciting event! From Sunday the 4th of June to the 7th of June, the LFW 2017 was held in the Truman Brewery.
The first show we went to was the Graduate Kingston Fashion Show. Kingston University has one of the most prestigious fashion design courses from the country, so we were excited to see what beautiful pieces their students would display.
